ADVANCED DRIVER-ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS (ADAS) WINDSCREEN CAMERA RECALIBRATION

“Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), are electronic systems that aid a vehicle driver while driving. When designed with a safe human-machine interface, they are intended to increase car safety and more generally road safety.” – Wikipedia

Are you aware of a camera mounted on or near your windscreen? If so, these cameras form part of your vehicle’s advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) and have been designed to protect both you and your vehicle on the road.

Most vehicle manufacturers state that these camera systems require recalibration after windscreen replacement, to ensure the camera and safety system continue to function as intended.

TYPES OF WINDSCREEN CAMERA RECALIBRATION

Due to the importance of your vehicle’s advanced driver-assistance system, you need an expert with the capability of recalibration to ensure these camera-enabled safety systems are functioning as they were designed to.

When you book an appointment or request a free quote with Accurate Auto Glass, we will advise you of the need for recalibration services after windscreen replacement. At the time of your appointment, a trained technician will complete the recalibration required by your vehicle. Depending on your vehicle, you may need either static or dynamic recalibration, and for some vehicles, both types are required.

  • Dynamic Recalibration – Your vehicle is driven at a set speed on well-marked roads to recalibrate the camera system. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, this process can take an hour or more.
  • Static Recalibration – A specific target image is mounted on a fixture in front of your vehicle during the recalibration process. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, this process can take an hour or more.
